INSECT ROBOT

Over past hundred years, people have invented many machines, but probably some of the most interesting machines are robots. Recently, scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, or MIT, have started to build a whole new kind of root – they call them insect robots. That is my topic today. First, I’ll take about why people are making insect robots look like and what they do?
First, what is robot? Have you ever seen a robot? A robot is a machine that does something … but this machine also has a computer that works like a brain. For each of us, our brain tells us what to do. Right? We first think, “I’ll go sit in that chair,” and then our brain tells our body how to do that. With a robot, the computers “thinks” about what to do, then also tells the body, the machine, what to do. In fact, the machine can only do what the computer tells it to do.
Now, how does the robot ‘Think’? Can a robot think like a human? First it is difficult … it will always be difficult … to make a robot that thinks like a human. Human brains are very complicated and can remember many thoughts and feelings, and can think about many ideas and plans at the same time. Because we can’t make a computer that thinks like a human, the scientist at MIT decided to try something new. They decided to make a robot that thinks like an insect. OK? Not like a human, but like an insect. Well, insect have very simple brains, so we can make a computer that thinks like an insect brain.
